LMTA Taps McNeely to Serve as New Executive Director

The Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) is proud to announce that Chance McNeely has been selected to lead the organization as its new Executive Director. The announcement concludes a diligent, months-long effort by the LMTA Board of Directors to fill this crucial role.

McNeely has served as an appointed executive at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development since Governor Edwards took office in 2016. He previously served in key positions under Governor Jindal and as a congressional aide in the U.S. House of Representatives. Additionally, he has served as a membership recruitment professional at the National Rifle Association.

“The LMTA Board of Directors is very pleased to have Chance on board in this vital role,” said LMTA President John Austin. “He possesses the skills and expertise that we were looking for, and stood out among dozens of candidates as the right person to lead our organization into the future. We are excited about what Chance will do to grow the LMTA.”

“The commercial trucking industry delivers for the people of Louisiana every single day, and I intend to deliver for the LMTA and its members,” said McNeely.  “From the day-to-day resources we provide to our members, to advocating at all levels of government, my focus will be on modernizing our approach in pursuit of meaningful solutions. I am eager to get started.”

McNeely takes over following Cathy Gautreaux’s appointment as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration under President Trump.

“Monitoring of Vehicles and Employees Status”

Continuous Monitoring of CDL Driver ODRs for Motor Carriers

LMTA is proud to announce our partnership with the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and Envoc to launch the Louisiana employer notification program for motor carriers with drivers who are licensed in Louisiana.

“Monitoring of Vehicles and Employees Status” (MOVES) is a voluntary program that will provide the continuous monitoring of drivers’ operating records and will notify their motor carrier employers of any change in the status of a driver’s license.

MOVES was created out of a need for motor carriers to get advanced notification of any change in a driver’s license status that could affect their ability to drive a truck – i.e., suspension, revocation, etc.
