2012 LMTA Events
Seafood Gala. The LMTA Seafood Gala is one of the best events hosted by the association. Held at The Sugar Mill on Convention Center Boulevard in New Orleans, this great networking event is attended by over 650 industry representatives from around the state and beyond. Guests enjoy boiled crawfish, shrimp and jambalaya. Music is provided and dancing is the order of the evening. Tickets are required and seating is pre-assigned.

Truck Driving Championships. The LMTA Truck Driving Championships is an annual event in which member company truck drivers with outstanding driving records compete in nine classes of competition to represent Louisiana on the National Level. The nine classes include: Straight Truck, Step-Van, 3-Axle Van, 4-Axle Van, 5-Axle Van, 5-Axle Tank, 5-Axle Flatbed, 5-Axle Sleeper and Twin Trailers. Competition consists of a written test, pre-trip inspection and obstacle course. Trophies are awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each category. Winners at the state level are honored at the Annual Safety Banquet following the competition. Also awarded are a Mechanics Award, Rookie of the Year, Team Award and overall Grand Champion. This event is held in Baton Rouge. First place winners in each class go on to represent Louisiana in the National Truck Driving Championships.

Annual Convention. The LMTA Annual Convention is held each year in late summer. This is a great opportunity to hear speakers discuss current issues of interest to the industry and to meet with some of our industry’s regulators. Entertaining speakers, a welcome reception and golf tournament add lots of networking opportunities. In addition to daily General Business Sessions, other meetings include the LMTA Board of Directors and TransPac Membership. In the past several years, our annual convention has been held along the gulf coast in Alabama and Florida.

Fall Transportation Conference. The newest addition to the LMTA annual events is the LMTA Fall Transportation Conference. This conference has traveled around the state, being held in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Many and New Orleans. The Fall Conference concentrates on the business of the industry. Speakers are invited to address current industry issues. Regularly included the in conference agenda is the popular “One Stop” Shop in which representatives from each agency that affects trucking and/or general business are invited and our registered guests have an opportunity to personally visit with them. In addition to daily General Business Sessions, other meetings include the LMTA Board of Directors, Safety Management Council and TransPac Membership.
