LMTA
...the Voice of the Trucking Industry Since 1939. Sunday 19, Nov 2017

To my fellow truck drivers, owners, and all the folks keeping our trucks on the road, I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to serve as President of the LMTA, a great organization with a great staff and dedicated members. I say this with no reservations – without the trucking industry, this state and country would come to an abrupt halt. The importance of this industry, and the folks that keep it going are sometimes overlooked and taken for granted. We all work hard and never look for gratitude or self-glory. That’s just the type of folks that make up this association.

I have long been a supporter of the LMTA and will continue to fight to stop the efforts of the government to over regulate our industry.

One of the items I would like to accomplish, or at least begin, is restoring the rest area system throughout the state with a public/private partnership to allow an abundance of extra truck parking areas for compliance with the Hours-of-Service regulations.

I would like to see all truck owners and operators in Louisiana, from the single truck and driver, to the large fleet owners and their drivers, become more active within the LMTA. I ask all to participate in the process – volunteer for committees, make an effort to participate in activities and get involved with the political process. Write and/or call your elected officials on important matters dealing with our industry. Together we can shape the industry to be a better place to work, live, and be prosperous. It’s the American Dream.

I think the year to come will be an exciting one for our industry, and for the country as a whole, and I look forward to increasing the association’s membership, expanding the parking areas, and working to help its’ members understand the importance of getting involved.

“IN MATTERS OF STYLE, SWIM WITH THE CURRENT; IN MATTERS OF PRINCIPLE, STAND LIKE A ROCK.” – President Thomas Jefferson

Thanks for your confidence in me to be your LMTA President for 2017-2018.
